What Will You Be Doing:
Embark on an unforgettable 10-day journey that combines creativity, storytelling, and meaningful community engagement in the serene surroundings of Musanda, Kenya.
Each morning, you will participate in daily storytelling workshops, guided by the brilliant Dr. Katie Isbester, an award-winning editor and publisher. These workshops will focus on key elements such as posture, breathing, voice, and the art of storytelling itself. Through fun and engaging sessions, you will practice telling a classic children’s fairy tale, like Cinderella, and even create your own original stories.
Storytelling is one of the oldest and most powerful ways to share experiences, whether through fictional tales, personal narratives, or factual recounts. You’ll be encouraged to express yourself, listen, and engage in lively discussions about the magic and impact of stories.
In the afternoons, you’ll have time to write and edit your own stories in the peaceful and tranquil surroundings of Musanda. For those interested in connecting with the local community, you will also have the opportunity to visit Nasio’s empowerment projects. You’ll work alongside our education and social work teams, learning how we are supporting women’s empowerment and social change within local communities. There will also be activities such as singing, dancing and cooking to take part in.
On weekends, you’ll take part in hands-on, impactful activities such as helping to smear a house to protect a vulnerable family from jigger infestations, or volunteering at our medical centre. Accompany our community health volunteers as they visit local families, assessing their needs and identifying the most vulnerable individuals who need support.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to grow, learn, and make a lasting difference while celebrating the strength and creativity of women from all over the world. Join us for a life-changing experience that blends creativity, social impact, and the power of storytelling.
So many of our past and present volunteers have found the experience intensely rewarding on a personal level. Seeing the everyday impact of poverty on the people we work with, puts many first world problems into perspective.
